30 years in motion. Finally measured.
Mama Lakshmi spent 30 years creating the kind of dishes that feel less like meals and more like masterpieces. She cooked by intuition, by memory, and most of all by heart and soul — the way true culinary artistry is made, without a word written down. Her children gently persuaded her to preserve her craft, and what emerged is a treasure chest of memorable recipes, downloadable and available to you immediately when purchased.

She learned by heart, beside her mother in the warm glow of the kitchen
As a child, Mama Lakshmi watched her mother and grandmother cook and quietly wondered how she might one day make something of her own. She grew up, started cooking, and kept experimenting — blending her own mixtures of flavours until the dishes were unmistakably hers.
Friends who came for the weekend said they’d never tasted anything like it and asked to be taught. Then she cooked for her own children, who turned out to be her most stubborn fans of all: they told her they didn’t like restaurants, because they preferred her cooking.
Ask her how she made something and the answer came in handfuls and instinct — never in numbers. So her children gently persuaded her to preserve the craft: every spice weighed, every dish measured, written out properly for the first time.
What emerged is a collection worthy of being called a treasure — a refined, intimate doorway into her kitchen, where each recipe is a signature piece layered with heritage and intention.
Remember to have fun. Cooking these recipes will bring joy and love to your table, as it has done for mine.

The dishes her family and friends remembered, spoken softly by name
From the heart of North Indian home cooking — samosa, saffron biryani, jalebi — and the timeless rituals of making roti and paneer from scratch, each a testament to heritage and artistry. Every photograph is artfully composed, capturing the warmth, the colour and the quiet luxury of a home where food is love.

An invitation to those who collect flavours as treasures of culture
This cookbook is for you if any of these sound familiar.
Indian food feels complicated to create
The first chapter is a short list of spices and one sequence: hot ghee, then the fresh ingredients, then the spices, cooked until the oil separates. Nearly every dish in the book is that sequence. Learn it once and the rest stops being a mystery.
Food that carries a story with it
Every recipe belongs to someone. One dish was the one her children asked for every time they came home; another is what their school friends kept turning up for. You’re not cooking from a brand — you’re cooking somebody’s actual family.
Endless scrolling for authentic, heartfelt recipes
Every dish on its own page, a portrait facing it, no life story before the ingredients and no pop-ups. Print the pages you cook most and let them get a thumbprint of turmeric on them.

Before you buy
How do I get the book?
The moment your payment goes through, an email arrives with your download link. Most people have the PDF open within a minute. If it hasn’t arrived in five, check your spam folder — then email us and we’ll send the file directly.
The link itself stays live for 24 hours. That’s a security measure, not a deadline on your copy: click an expired link and a fresh one is sent straight to the address you used at checkout. Once you’ve saved the PDF to your phone or computer, it’s yours — no link, account or internet needed to open it again.
Do I need a lot of special ingredients?
A short shelf of spices, and they last for years: turmeric, coriander, cumin, mustard seed, fennel seed, cinnamon, cloves, bay leaves, black pepper, paprika and salt. Plus a few fresh things you probably already buy — ginger, garlic, onions, tomatoes, cilantro. A handful of recipes reach further for mango powder, curry leaves, asafetida, kalonji or saffron, but those are the exceptions and all easy to order.
Is it vegetarian?
Almost entirely — chicken curry is the only recipe that isn’t. There’s also a recipe for making paneer from scratch that several other dishes build on. Note that many recipes use ghee, butter, cream or yogurt, so the book isn’t vegan.
I’ve never cooked Indian food. Will I manage?
That’s who the first chapter is written for. Each recipe then sits on a single page, ingredients on the left and preparation on the right, in plain language. Start with roti, Indian summer salad or mango lassi and work outwards.
How long do the recipes take?
Most are a weeknight’s work — aloo gobi, chicken curry, bhindi and palak paneer all land around half an hour, and roti, the summer salad, mango chutney and mango lassi are quicker. A few ask for patience rather than effort: kheer simmers about an hour, burfi wants up to thirty minutes of stirring, and channa masala, spiced peas and sabudana khichidi need an overnight soak. Homemade paneer wants half a day in the fridge.
What format is the file, and can I print it?
A full-colour PDF. It opens on any phone, tablet or computer without special software, and yes — print whichever pages you cook from most and keep them by the stove.
Is my payment secure?
Yes. Checkout happens on this site over an encrypted connection, and your card is handled by Stripe — the same processor used by a great many online shops. We never see or store your card number. You’ll only ever be asked for an email address and payment details, nothing else.
What if something goes wrong with my order?
Email us and we’ll sort it out — a download that won’t open, a link that won’t work, a payment taken twice. Our refund policy sets out where we can and can’t offer a refund on a digital file.
